Seattle Art Museum – Peru: Kingdoms of the Sun and the Moon Exhibit
The Seattle Art Museum (SAM) will host an exhibit of over 100 Peruvian national treasures on tour for the first time outside of Peru. The artwork includes sculptures, gold and silver metalworks, paintings and textiles spanning a history of over 3,000 years. The exhibit will be at the Seattle Art Museum (SAM) from October 17, 2013 – January 5, 2014 in Seattle, Washington.

Works displayed include pieces from the Mochica, Chimú and Inca native people of Peru. Colonial and Vice-royal eras of Peru are represented by paintings and sculptures. Paintings and folk art created after the independence from Spain and additional work from the 20th-century with also be presented.
The exhibit was first shown in Montreal, Quebec, Canada earlier in 2013 from February 2 – June 16, 2013 at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
