Snowshoeing Middle McCloud Falls

Middle McCloud Falls in Siskiyou County in Northern California (map)
Having visited McCloud River Falls in all of the other seasons, we finally showshoed in to see Middle McCloud Falls in winter dress over the weekend (even though it’s technically spring). So worth it. It took about 45 minutes each way from the locked gate near hwy 89.
The road is plowed until the turn to the Upper & Middle Falls Road. We snowshoed straight towards the Lower Falls, but took a left and went through Fowlers Campground where we connected to the McCloud River Trail and followed it upriver to the Middle Falls.
The snow was packed well and only sank in a few inches. Great conditions with only three or so slightly tricky areas.
