Travel Writing
Hi, I’m Lisa Kuhn. Creator of and travel writer for iLiveWhereIam.com, my travel site featuring U.S. West Coast and international travel to South America.
My travel writing experience includes authoring Matador Network’s Seattle City Guide, where we take a look at this Pacific Northwest city’s neighborhoods, restaurants, bars, nightlife, accommodations, festivals, and more.

Going more in-depth with Seattle, I wrote, photographed, and designed my Seattle Visual Travel Guide eBook which takes you into seven of Seattle’s unique neighborhoods. I cover top sights, museums, shopping, parks, when to visit, where to stay, and how to get around. You can see it all with my 225 photos that are included in the ebook.
In 2015, I was shortlisted in the top 25 of 3,000 entries for World Nomads and Lonely Planet’s travel writing competition where the top prize was a 10-day travel writing road trip across the United States.
That same year, I also contributed video for a documentary about Argentina for dbate.de (Spiegel.tv).
“To be what we are, and to become what we are capable of becoming, is the only end of life.”
– Robert Louis Stevenson
Photography
I’ve taken photographs for years, but mainly on the fly while traveling. In October 2021, I finally got serious about my photography. I primarily focus on nature and landscapes of the Western United States. Recently I took a solo photography trip to Europe and got to enjoy photographing the architecture of London, Paris, Edinburgh, and Glasgow – a first for me with photography.
I had an absolute thrill in early 2024. I was shortlisted in the landscape category of the Sony World Photography Awards 2024 Open Competition for my “Lenticular Cloud Over Mount Shasta” photo. That competition had 395,000 entries across four competitions. I was also the only woman in the landscape category.
So, why the middle initial? I’ve opted to use my middle initial “K.” to make it easier for people to find my photography. Believe it or not, Lisa Kuhn is a common name with Kuhn being a common German name. At age 19 (pre-internet), I was told by a friend that it meant “bold” and “daring”. I’ll take it!

On the Personal Side
I love hiking and snowshoeing in the mountains, European-style architecture, and learning about other cultures. I also have a strong interest in the environment and human rights.
A native of Los Angeles, I spent a year traveling through the Western United States and can regularly be found roaming the West Coast. My international travels have taken me throughout Europe and South America exploring 30 cities on each continent. I recently traveled throughout New Zealand and had a brief stay in Fiji.
